Genetic Factors and Health Risks Associated with Color Blindness

Color vision deficiency (CVD) is one type of inherited disease. because it is a change in genetic mutation. Other types may develop as a result of injuries, eye diseases, health problems, and treatment side effects..You may have trouble seeing different color shades. So here we can see genetic factors and health risks related to color blindness.

What is color blindness?

Color blindness means what ? we have seen before, but still, let's look at it a bit deeper. The cone cells in our eyes contain a type of nerve cell. If these cells don’t function properly, it leads to this condition. These cone cells help us sense the light and images we see and send signals to our brain. Simply put, these cone cells help us understand what we are seeing.

Peoples thoughts Color blindness is doesn’t mean that someone cannot see at all. It means they might have difficulty seeing or distinguishing certain colors. People with this condition can see some colors but perceive others differently or have trouble differentiating between certain colors. In some cases, they may also have difficulty recognizing shapes properly.

This condition can be caused by genetic inheritance or sometimes due to certain medical side effects. It can even improve after some time in specific cases. It could affect you or your children, so it’s best to consult an eye doctor to get a proper diagnosis. They can also explain the types of color blindness and how it may affect vision.

Who does affected ?

Okay,we saw deeply  what is color vision deficiency.but who does affect ?  Let's see that.It is mostly male and people  AMAB that is(Assigned Male At Birth)affected on color blindness. This is Due to genetic inheritance (X-Linked) patten. Passed down in this manner are much common among AMAB peoples.I told you before human can also affected on color blindness due to some medical side effects also.

Types of color blindness

The different types of color blindness are Red-sensing cones, Green-sensing cones and Blue-sensing cones.

Red-sensing cones:Red-sensing cones  regards Long wavelength (L cones). This affects how you can see any colour or shade that color some red or green in them.

  • Protanopia:Your L cones are missing. So,you cannot feel the real color of red light. You generally see that colors are blue or gold color. You just confuse different shades of red with black colors. You may also confuse dark brown with other color shades like green, red or orange.

Green-sensing cones: Green-sensing cones  regards Long wavelength (L cones). This affects how you can see any colour or shade that color some red or green in them.

  • Deuteranopia:This is a same process of Protanopia. M cones are missing. So,you cannot feel the real color of green light. You generally see that colors are blue or gold color. You just confuse different shades of red with some shades of green .You may also confuse yellow with dark shades of green.

Blue-sensing cones:Blue-yellow color vision defects is also called as tritan defects .This defect  much less common.

  • Tritanopia: This also same as Red-green color deficiency. If you have  no S cones .So you cannot regard blue light. You have see mostly red, light blue, lavender and pink color.

Even though you have all three cones, assume that your S cones are less sensitive to blue light than they should be..Blue look like green.and you see bitly or no yellow. So, this is called Tritanomaly.

Genetic Factors and Health Risks Associated with Color Blindness

This  Blue-yellow color deficiency equally affects AMAB and AFAB peoples.

Genes for color blindness:

  • Recessive females [XcXc]

  • Hemizygous recessive male[XcY]

Genetic Factors with Color Blindness

  • Parent can pass down the color vision deficiency to their child through genes on chromosomes, which are made of DNA.Some of chromosomes called X chromosomes and Y chromosomes are linked to our biological sex.

  • Parents  pass down the genes for  color vision deficiency through the X-Chromosome.

  • If the mother has the condition.fifty percentage chance of inheriting  color blindness if the mother carries t one copy of the genetic mutation but does not have the condition.the other copy is normal. Will not inherit  the condition  If only the  father has it because the father contributes the Y-chromosomes to male baby and X-chromosomes to the female baby.

Symptoms of color blindness

Identifying the differences between different colors or shades, as well as the brightness of specific colors.

But to recognize these symptoms, you need to know to look for them. Most  people with color blindness don’t know to look for these differences because they have  always seen colors in the same way. So, they donot realize many things are different  about their color vision.

Health Risks Associated with Color Blindness

Color vision deficiency causes health risks like diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, or multiple sclerosis (MS).

What i'm saying in commonly symptoms in color vision deficiency can affect a person ability to read and clarify various diagrams and graphics.

Color blindness has several causes are Inherited disorder,Diseases,Certain medications,Aging,Chemicals

Okay, guys, I’ve shared with you what I know about color blindness. Still, 4.5 % of the world's population seems to face this vision health problem, which may also occur due to medical side effects. However, if you’re wondering whether color blindness is hereditary, the chances of it being treatable are very minimal. Finally, thanks for reading my blog!
