Diabetes and Its Effective Management


Nowadays diabetes or blood sugar is seen commonly in most people. You may face this diabetes either through yourself or through the people around you. Don’t be afraid at that time, It is a common thing in the 21st century. Also there are so many steps that we can take to control this blood sugar. This may arise mainly because of stress, irregular exercises, dehydration and so on. This will be controlled  by taking a few diets, and following regular exercises. Here, we will discuss this diabetes and the steps to manage it.

What is diabetes and how does it affect ?


Diabetes mellitus commonly called diabetes is a disorder that appears when the pancreas fails to produce insulin in which the amount of blood sugar decreases. Insulin is the hormone which helps in regulating blood glucose. Diabetes can easily affect kidneys, blood vessels in the heart, eyes, and nerves. Also there are few diabetes types seen. They are explained in this blog below.


Different Types of Diabetes


There are three types of diabetes that are very popularly known. 

They are, 

  1. Type 1 

  2. Type 2

  3. Gestational diabetes

In this the first two types are seen in people at any age but gestational diabetes was seen in females during their pregnancy period.


Type 1 : 

 

The type 1 diabetes can begin at any age but, most commonly in childhood and teenagers. This is a hereditary disease that is caused by an autoimmune reaction which destroys the ability of the pancreas to produce insulin, there is no way to prevent this. The symptoms for this include  frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, and increased thirst. 


Type 2 : 


Type 2 diabetes is seen most commonly in people around 40, this is mainly caused by a few lifestyle factors, such as being  inactive, overweight, and having a poor diet. In this case, the pancreas will produce insulin but the body isn't able to use it in an effective manner.  There's no cure for type 2 diabetes, but diet, exercise, and medications can help manage it. The symptoms of type 2 diabetes are they appear more slowly, And they may not notice any symptoms.


Gestational diabetes : 


Gestational diabetes is also known as GD which is seen in females during their pregnancy. This diabetes may occur even if they don’t have diabetes before. It can begin at any stage of their pregnancy but most commonly in their 24th week. It occurs when their body can't produce enough insulin to satisfy the extra needs of pregnancy. For this diabetes there are no symptoms but testing is very important.

What are the symptoms of diabetes?


A few symptoms that are faced by most diabetes patients are mentioned below;


  • Feels tired and laziness - If a person is affected by blood sugar, they will feel tired and laziness often. 

  • Thirst and urination -  they may get thirsty more oftenly and urinate more than usual, especially at night.

  • Weight Loss and vision - diabetes patients will lose their weight without planning any diet or exercises and also they may lose their vision they will have blurry vision.

  • Mood changes and infections - they feel irritated most of the time and they will face few infections in their skin, gum and also vaginal infections.


These symptoms may lead to kidney failure if they avoid these without taking any treatment. Also There are different types of diabetes, so they can feel many differences in their symptoms. 


Diabetes Management 


Diabetes management is the process of taking awareness about how to manage diabetes. It mainly involves medications, exercises, lifestyle changes and also regular monitoring. Below there are few key strategies that will explain the process of diabetes: 


  • Medication - medications include insulin injections or oral medicine depending on the type of diabetes that the person is affected. Medication will be necessary to manage the blood sugar levels.

  • Exercise - regular exercise will help them to maintain their weight and helps in improving their insulin sensitivity. 

  • Lifestyle changes - It mainly includes a balanced diet that can help them by regulating blood sugar levels. They should include fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains in their diet.

  • Regular monitoring - monitoring blood sugar on a regular basis is very crucial for diabetes patients. It helps inform them about diet, exercise and medication.


By following the above strategies, diabetes can be controlled and managed. So, everyone should n't be careless and should follow these steps for maintaining a healthier lifestyle. 


How to Prevent Diabetes Complications


If diabetes is not properly managed it may lead to few complications that easily affect our heart, eye, kidneys and various organs in your body. These complications may be low or severe, so this can be prevented as soon as possible. The below steps will explain the prevention methods that should be followed;


How to prevent : 


  • Maintain Consistent Blood Sugar Levels - maintaining blood sugar levels is one of the most important factors in preventing diabetes complications

  • Control Blood Pressure - High blood pressure is common in people with diabetes and can lead to few complications like kidney failure, cardiac problems, etc.  

  • Regulate Cholesterol Levels - Diabetes can increase the risk of high cholesterol, which can contribute to heart disease and stroke. Keeping cholesterol levels under control helps prevent the various complications caused by diabetes. 

  • Take Care of Your Kidneys - Diabetic nephropathy, is a common complication of uncontrolled diabetes. This is a Diabetic kidney disease. This may be because of high blood sugar and high blood pressure.


How to manage:


  • Monitor your blood sugar levels, whether they are in a healthy range.

  • Follow a balanced diet that includes proteins, healthy facts etc.

  • Take diabetes medications that are directed by your doctor, including insulin or oral medications.

  • Maintain an exercise regularly that helps in regulating blood sugar.

  • Maintain a healthy weight, as overweight individuals are more likely to have high blood pressure.

  • Regularly monitor kidney function with blood and urine tests.


By following the above steps of diabetes symptoms and prevention strategies, individuals can take necessary steps towards a healthier lifestyle. Effective management involves consistent monitoring of blood sugar control, maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, and following prescribed medications.
